Diploma Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Law awards a master’s degree (law) to students who have completed the designated subjects, acquired the prescribed credits, and submitted a thesis under the guidance of the academic advisors within the prescribed period of years by the Graduate School.  The Graduate School evaluates the qualification of students according to the appraisal of the levels of acquisition of the following knowledge and abilities:

• Knowledge and Skills
  To have acquired the knowledge required to act as researchers or highly specialized professionals of law or political science (knowledge of current laws or modern politics through understanding the historical and ideological backgrounds), to have acquired the skills to find out appropriately and promptly various kinds of information among the judicial precedents, trends of theories, or recent political conditions, and to have acquired the abilities to analyze them comprehensively from the view point of law or political science and to respond flexibly.
• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  To be able to tackle with various social problems of the modern society from a wide range of perspectives based on the overseas trends as well, to explain them scientifically by accurately understanding of the legal or political systems, to develop convincing arguments based on the norms and historical experiences, by studying the specialized subjects and reading foreign materials l, and ultimately to have acquired the “Think and Act” capabilities in order to contribute to building democratic decision making.  To have acquired the ability to discover unresolved issues and the ability to solve problems based on fair and flexible thinking by analyzing specific legal disputes or political situations through legal or political thinking.
• Proactive Attitudes
  To have acquired the attitude to select a significant research theme based on the development of judicial precedents and theories, the recent political situation and the future career path as a researcher or highly specialized professionals, set unresolved issues, formulate an appropriate research plan to solve the issues and conduct research activities based on the plan.
  To have acquired the attitude to engage in academic dialogue and exchange through research presentations in classes, conferences and seminars and submissions to academic journals.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Law awards a doctor's degree (law) to students who have completed the designated subjects, acquired the prescribed credits, and submitted a thesis under the guidance of the academic advisors set by the Graduate School within the prescribed period of years.  Specifically, the Graduate School judges students' appropriateness to receive a doctor's degree based on their acquisition of the following knowledge and abilities:

• Knowledge and Skills
  To have acquired the knowledge required to act as independent researchers of law or political science (knowledge of current laws or modern politics through understanding the historical and ideological backgrounds), to have acquired the skills to find out appropriately various kinds of information among the judicial precedents, trends of theories, or recent political conditions and to have acquired the abilities to analyze them comprehensively from the viewpoint of the law or political science and to respond flexibly.
• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  To have acquired a wide-range of perspectives by collecting, translating, and comprehending foreign literatures and the abilities to work on various social issues in modern society by understanding foreign legal or political systems, to have the ability to explain such social issues scientifically based on their correct understanding of the legal or political system, to develop convincing arguments based on the norms and historical experiences, and ultimately to have acquired the “Think and Act” capabilities in order to contribute to building democratic decision making.
• Proactive Attitudes
  To have acquired abilities to analyze specific legal disputes or political circumstances through legal or political thinking, to set up the theme of the doctor's thesis on an unresolved issue, and to suggest a resolution based on an original and significant theory, and to have acquired the ability to solve the problems based on fair and flexible way of thinking, by presenting the original and significant theory at an academic meeting and conference or posting it to an academic journal in order to improve the persuasiveness of the above mentioned resolution.

Curriculum Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Law aims to foster researchers or highly specialized professionals who have sufficient knowledge of law and political science and can actively and effectively utilize it in various fields of society by acquiring knowledge and skills, qualities and abilities, and attitudes according to the Diploma Policy.  The Graduate School arranges the legal and political studies course to nurture researchers, the highly specialized professional course to nurture highly specialized professionals, and the global cooperation course to improve the professional abilities of foreign students and their academic contributions to their home countries.  The curriculum is configured on the basis of the following items:

• Educational Contents:

  Knowledge and Skills
  The legal and political studies course aims to nurture research ability and basic academic knowledge necessary for independent research activities.  The students are supposed to take seminars in each academic year, in principle, under the guidance of the same academic advisor while at the Graduate School.  Through the lectures mainly composed of specialized subjects and the foreign literature studies, the students can also acquire the ability to read and understand foreign materials, which is necessary for researchers.
  The highly specialized professional course and the global cooperation course aim to foster highly specialized professionals with expertise.  Students are supposed to receive specialized education in a more practical way which consists of basic subjects, lecture subjects and seminar subjects.  In the basic subjects, students acquire basic knowledge and academic skills in law and political science.  In the lecture subjects, students will learn advanced specialized knowledge about current laws and contemporary politics, with historical and ideological backgrounds, and will analyze and discuss various issues of contemporary society from multiple perspectives.  In the seminar subjects, students are mainly instructed to prepare their master's thesis or research report on a specific theme.

  Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  Students acquire the ability to think, judge, and express themselves through the seminar subjects.  In the legal and political studies course and the global cooperation courses, seminars for master's thesis are regularly guided by the academic advisor.  In the highly specialized professional course, each student receives the guidance from a dedicated teacher in the first year and the student will be advised appropriately about the research themes of the specialized field in for the second year.  Students acquire problem-solving skills by taking the general seminar (Theme).  Guidance for master's thesis or research report on a specific theme in the second or third year is given by the academic advisor whom the students can select by their own request.

  Proactive Attitudes
  Students will develop a proactive attitude by formulating their own research plan, reporting on the progress and results of their research to their academic advisor and others in classes, etc., and preparing and submitting the Annual Research Results Report to the Dean of the Graduate School.  The Graduate School prepares opportunities to enable students to report their research results through on-campus and off-campus academic meetings and conferences, or through submissions to academic journals such as The Journal of Law and to give ethics training necessary for carrying out research.  In addition, classes conducted from a practical point of view will make students aware of the relationship between theory and practice, thereby enhancing their motivation to work.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  Knowledge and Skills
  The Graduate School, mainly in basic subjects and lecture subjects, evaluates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills by the understanding of advanced specialized knowledge in law and political science, the ability to provide logical and scientific explanations, the ability to construct well-reasoned and persuasive arguments and the ability to draw reasonable conclusions in discussions with others.

  Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  The acquisition of the abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression will be evaluated through the examination of the master's thesis or of the research report on a specific theme as well as the seminar subjects.  The evaluation criteria require that each master's thesis or research report on a specific theme satisfy a sufficient level of the comprehensive and analytical research results of a specific theme of law or political science, or of the research results worth for proceeding policy proposal based on research and analysis.  The research report on a specific theme does not necessarily have to be original and academically specialized, but it must show a high level of ability required for a highly specialized profession.
  The Graduate School evaluates comprehensively the master’s thesis or the research report on a specific theme based on the following criteria:
  

  1. Awareness of the problem and setting of the issue should be clearly stated.
  2. The structure, development, and written expression of the paper should be appropriate.
  3. Research, analysis and citation of previous studies and materials should be appropriate and sufficient.

  Proactive Attitudes
  As for the acquisition of a proactive attitude, we estimate the attitude toward the formulation and implementation of research plans through the research plans and research reports in the seminar subjects, and the examination of the master's thesis or of the research report on a specific theme.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Law aims for the students to acquire knowledge and skills, qualities and abilities, and attitudes according to the Diploma Policy of the Graduate School and foster the researchers who have sufficient knowledge of law and political science and can actively and effectively utilize it in various fields of society.  The Graduate School sets the legal and political studies course which configures its the curriculum on the basis of the following points.

  Knowledge and Skills
  Ph. D. Degree Program aims to nurture more advanced research ability and rich basic academic knowledge necessary for independent research activities.  The students are supposed to take seminars of small class in each academic year, in principle, under the guidance of the same academic advisor while at the Graduate School.  Through the lectures mainly composed of specialized subjects and the foreign literature studies, the students can also acquire the ability to read and understand foreign materials, which is necessary for researchers.

  Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  In Ph. D. Degree Program, seminars for doctor's thesis are regularly guided by the academic advisor.

  Proactive Attitudes
  The Graduate School prepares opportunities to enable students to report their research results widely through on-campus and off-campus academic meetings and conferences, or through their posting to academic journals such as The Law Review of Kansai University and The Journal of Law and to give ethics training necessary for becoming researchers.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  Knowledge and Skills
  The Graduate School evaluates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills by the screening of their doctor’s thesis.  The evaluation criteria require that each doctor’s thesis has an original and highly advanced academic content in the field of law or politics and is recognized to contribute to development of academics.  The Graduate School evaluates each doctor’s thesis comprehensively based on the following criteria:

  1. whether the research content of the research has originality and expertise or not;
  2. whether the research is recognized to contributing to development of academics or not;
  3. whether the student’s problem consciousness and issue setting are clarified or not;
  4. whether the structure, theoretical development, and writing expressions of the thesis are proper or not;
  5. whether the thesis properly and sufficiently analyzes and cites preceding researches and materials or not.

  Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  As for the lecture subjects, the Graduate School evaluates each student’s ability to make logical and scientific explanations and well-grounded plausible argument through report and discussion for individual problems, and to lead a reasonable conclusion in discussions with others.

  Proactive Attitudes
  In the seminars conducted by the academic advisor, in particular, the Graduate School estimates students' attitudes and abilities to study and solve individual problems by utilizing their own knowledge and thinking.  Through the screening of doctor's thesis, the Graduate School evaluates the more specialized academic abilities of each student.

Admission Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Law accepts those who are ready to contribute to democratic decision making with logical and convincing arguments based on accurate expertise in political society and on necessary information.  Applicants are therefore required:

• To have the basic expertise in the historical development of existing legal and political institutes which is necessary for a researcher or a highly specialized professional, to have enough knowledge to understand arguments in foreign countries about legal and political issues, and to have the sufficient ability in Japanese and/or other languages to exactly express their own views and exactly understand others views.
• To show willingness to admit the significance of different views derived from different cultures and values, to make a scientific explanation with accurate knowledge on legal and political institutes, and to reach a mutual agreement by convincing plausible arguments well founded on norms and history.
• To have the abilities of problem solution based on fair and flexible thinking, to have an active interest in social phenomena, to form their own opinions about them by reference to expertise in legal and political institutes, to act for problem solution by reconciling different interests and values in a democratic way, and to suggest their own solution in the form of master's thesis or research report on a specific theme.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Law accepts those who have ability to research developed through master’s degree program are ready to contribute to democratic decision making with logical and convincing arguments based on accurate and more advanced expertise in political society and on necessary information.  Applicants are therefore required:

• To have the more advanced expertise in the historical development of existing legal and political institutes which is necessary for a researcher or a highly specialized professional, to have enough knowledge on foreign languages to understand and express arguments in foreign countries about legal and political issues, and to have the sufficient ability to exactly express their own views and exactly understand others' views.
• To have willingness to admit the significance of different views derived from different cultures and values, to make a scientific explanation with accurate knowledge on legal and political institutes, and to reach a mutual agreement by convincing arguments well founded on norms and history.
• To have the abilities of problem solution based on fair and flexible thinking, to have an active interest in social phenomena, to form their own opinions about them by reference to more advanced expertise in legal and political institutes, to act for problem solution by reconciling different interests and values in a democratic way, and to suggest their own solution in the form of doctoral dissertation.

Diploma Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Economics' educational aim is to develop human resources with an international perspective, specialized knowledge, and advanced research abilities. When awarding a degree, the Graduate School place emphasis on achieving that goal. When conferring degrees, to ensure its transparency a certain period of public notice is required, and oral examinations will be open to the public. Specifically, the Graduate School will award a master's degree in economics to those who have acquired the following knowledge and skills, abilities such as thinking, judgment, and expression, and an independent attitude.

• Knowledge and Skills
  • Students will have advanced knowledge and skills, requirements to be active as economics researchers or highly specialized professionals, and will be able to utilize them comprehensively.
• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  • Students will be able to contribute to society through an international perspective, leveraging their high level of expertise in economics, and demonstrating a high level of “Think and Act”.
• Proactive Attitudes
  • Be able to take responsibility for one's own learning and independently tackle unresolved issues related to economics.
  • Students will be able to use their knowledge of economics to proactively tackle various domestic and international issues that are actually occurring.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 In the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Economics, the doctoral degree will be conferred to those who after completing the prescribed curriculum for each degree program, acquired the following knowledge and skills, abilities such as thinking, judgment, and expression, as well as an independent attitude.

• Knowledge and Skills
  Students will be able to systematically acquire cutting-edge knowledge in economics, utilize it comprehensively to independently carry out research activities, and present outstanding results.
• Abilities to of thinking, Judgement, and Expression
  Students will be able to contribute to society with an international perspective, making use of their high level of expertise in economics, and exhibiting outstanding “Think and Act” abilities’.
• Proactive Attitudes
  As an economics researcher, students will be able to involve proactively in the various problems faced by economics and real society, and disseminate the results of their research to society at large.

Curriculum Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 At the Graduate School of Economics, as stated in the diploma policy, educational curriculum is organized so that students can acquire knowledge and skill abilities, such as thinking, judgment, and expression, as well as an independent attitude, based on the following points:

• Educational Contents:

  In response to economic and social changes, and to meet various motivations and student needs upon admission, the Graduate School established two programs: Graduate programs for Professional Development and Academic Development. The academic development program, which is designed to be integrated with Ph. D. Degree Program, has an educational program for students to become independent researchers. The professional development program offers a wide range of subjects such as economics, public policy, regional/international, history/society, and business/finance, and is suitable for the career plans of a wide variety of students, including working adults and international students.

  The coursework is enriched with compulsory basic subjects. In addition to acquiring knowledge of economics at the graduate level, the course also provides guidance on research methods such as data collection, empirical analysis, field research, and dissertation writing.

• Educational Evaluation:

  Acquisition of knowledge and skills will be determined by combining the results of examinations of the dissertation or research results on specific assignments, and on the results of various research surveys and research achievements.

  Regarding the evaluation of abilities such as thinking power, judgment power, and expressive power, summarized in the power of “Think and Act” students are required to act independently using advanced knowledge of economics, and to participate and present at domestic and international academic conferences. The research will be evaluated comprehensively from the viewpoint of innovation, research content, and relevance to global issues.

  Proactive attitudes to learn will be determined by aggregating various student assessment research.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 At the Graduate School of Economics, the curriculum is organized so that students can acquire knowledge and skills, abilities such as thinking, judgment, and expression, as well as an independent attitude as stated in the degree award policy, and based on the following points.

• Educational Contents:

  The aim is to help students acquire outstanding knowledge and skills efficiently by systematically combining lectures, exercises, and practical training.

  In the Ph.D. Program each student will receive careful guidance from their supervisor in seminar subjects, and will be able to acquire outstanding research abilities. The Program also actively provide opportunities for conference presentations and publication of research results.

  The Program provides opportunities to develop the ethical standards required for conducting research.

• Educational Evaluation:

  Acquisition of knowledge and skills will be determined by combining the results of dissertation examinations, various learning behavior surveys, and achievement surveys.

  Regarding the evaluation of abilities such as thinking power, judgment power, and expressive power, summarized in the “Think and Act” abilities, students are required to act independently using advanced knowledge of economics, and will be evaluated comprehensively from the viewpoint of participation and presentation at domestic and international academic conferences, and innovation, research content, and relevance to global issues.

  Attitudes toward proactive learning will be determined by aggregating various student assessment researches.

Admission Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 At the Graduate School of Economics, a wide range of students are accepted through various entrance examination systems. In order to be able to receive education based on the policy for awarding degrees and the policy for organizing and implementing curriculum, those students are required to have knowledge and skills, thinking ability, judgment, and expression ability with a proactive attitude.

• Applicants have acquired specialized knowledge related to economics, in which they majored in the bachelor's course.
• It is desirable to have the ability to respond to modern society, where globalization is progressing, and to have acquired a broad perspective of foreign language proficiency, which serves as the basis for research.
• To have a strong desire to proactively learn cutting-edge economics.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 At the Graduate School of Economics, a wide range of students are accepted through various entrance examination systems, and in order to be able to receive education based on the policy for awarding degrees and the policy for organizing and implementing curriculum, students are required to have knowledge and skills, thinking ability, judgment, and expression ability with a proactive attitude.

• Applicants have acquired specialized knowledge and skills related to economics, in which they graduated in their bachelor's and master’s programs.
• Students are equipped with the ability to respond to modern society, where globalization is progressing, and have excellent foreign language proficiency, which provides a more multifaceted and broader perspective basis for research.
• To have a strong desire to independently learn cuttingedge economics with an attitude of proactively tackling economics and real economic issues.

Diploma Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Sociology (Master’s Degree Program) aims to foster the students who can conduct empirical and practical research in the interdisciplinary fields of social and human sciences and have high-level expertise and independent research abilities.  Thus the Graduate School gives the Master’s Degree (Sociology) to those who have acquired the following knowledge and skills, abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression, and proactive attitudes, and have passed the screening and examination of the master’s thesis or results of a specific research task after acquiring prescribed number of credits:

• Knowledge and Skills

  Students have acquired knowledge of a broad perspective and can demonstrate necessary abilities for basis of research in the specialized field or for working as professionals of high-quality expertise.

• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression

  Students can accept a diversity of values and ways of thinking in the society and transmit their own opinions in addition to listening attentively to others.

  Students can observe and understand social matters as well as human activities calmly and appropriately, discover the problems using the “Think and Act” capabilities in order to propose solutions.

• Proactive Attitudes

  Students can demonstrate intellectual curiosity and constructive critical spirit towards people around and social circumstances.

  Students have the proactive power of “Think and Act” to construct a new society while understanding and respecting social traditions.

  Students have acquired the attitude and habit to take a broader perspective without limiting their views to the narrower familiar communities.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Sociology (Doctor’s Degree Program) aims to foster the students who can conduct empirical and practical research in the interdisciplinary fields of social and human sciences with high-levels of expertise as well as independent research abilities.  Thus the Graduate School gives the Doctor’s Degree (Sociology) to those who have acquired the following knowledge and skills, abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression, and proactive attitudes and have passed the screening of the doctor’s thesis and the final examination after having acquired the prescribed number of credits and received necessary research guidance:

  Students have acquired academic knowledge from a broad perspective and demonstrate specialized research abilities required for autonomous researchers or abilities required for independent professionals with high-quality expertise

• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression

  Students can accept a diversity of views and values in the society and transmit their own opinions in addition to listening attentively to others.

  Students can observe and understand social matters as well as human activities objectively and appropriately, discover the problems based on their capabilities of “Think and Act”, in order to propose solutions.

• Proactive Attitudes

  Students can demonstrate intellectual curiosity and constructive critical spirit towards people around and social circumstances.

  Students have the proactive power of “Think and Act” to construct a new society while understanding and respecting social traditions.

  Students have acquired the attitude and habit to take a broader perspective without limiting their views to the narrower familiar communities.

Curriculum Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Sociology configures the subjects such as lecture for the basis of specialized subjects and related knowledge, practice for specialized research methods, and seminar for research guidance in a small class:

• Educational Contents:

  The Graduate School aims to foster the students who develop a highly autonomous research attitude with wide perspective through introducing thesis preparation guidance by an academic advisor and research guidance by plural teachers.

  In addition to the courses in their own majors, which consist of seminars, research guidance courses, core subjects, applied subjects, and practical subjects, the Graduate School may approve subjects from other majors and graduate schools for the admission of additional credits in order to respond to more diversified student research interests.

  The Graduate School aims to cultivate not only researchers, but also professionals with high-levels of expertise by offering a program which is completed with the submission of results on a specific research task without a master’s thesis.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  Levels of acquisition of knowledge and skills will be evaluated through integration of screening of the master’s thesis and judgement of results of a specific research task as well as the results of various researches of learning activities and achievement tests.

  The evaluation of abilities to think, judge and express themselves, summarized as the power of “Think and Act” capabilities will be made by tallying the competency survey of Kansai University;

  The proactive learning attitudes will be evaluated by various student assessment researches.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Sociology configures its curriculum to enable students to acquire research ability by placing lecture for learning theories and methods and thesis supervision subjects.

• Educational Contents:

  The Graduate School aims to foster the students who develop a highly autonomous research attitude with wide perspective through introducing thesis preparation guidance by an academic advisor and research guidance by plural teachers.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  Levels of the acquisition of knowledge and skills will be evaluated through integration of the screening of the doctor’s thesis and judgement of the results of a specific research task as well as the results of various researches of learning activities and achievement tests.

  The abilities to think, judge and express themselves, summarized as the “Think and Act” capabilities, will be evaluated by tallying the competency survey of Kansai University.

  The proactive learning attitudes will be evaluated by various student assessment researches.

 The Graduate School of Sociology accepts those who have the following knowledge and skills, abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression, and proactive attitudes and deserve as the graduate school students according to the Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy of the Graduate School from a wide range of people including adult members of society and international students:

• To have sufficient basic knowledge and academic abilities necessary for becoming independent researchers, and/or to have sufficient basic knowledge and academic abilities necessary for professionals provided with advanced expertise.
• To have a deep consciousness for problems of society and human beings, and to have enough concerns and willingness to research from wider perspectives.
• To have willingness to contribute academically to society by solving the problems of society and human beings and creating new values.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Sociology accepts those who have the following knowledge and skills, abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression, and proactive attitudes, and deserve as the graduate school students according to the Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy of the Graduate School from a wide range of people including adult members of society and international students:

• To have sufficient basic knowledge and academic abilities of expertise necessary for independent researchers in the future.
• To have wider research concern, original consciousness for problems, and flexible intelligence necessary for conducting interdisciplinary research of social and human sciences.
• To have willingness to contribute academically to society by solving the problems of society and human beings and creating new values.

Diploma Policy

■ Master's Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Science and Engineering (Master’s Degree Program) offers the three majors, Engineering Science Major, Environmental and Urban Engineering Major and Chemistry, Materials and Bioengineering Major.  Under the majors there are nine disciplines of Mathematics, Pure and Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering, Architecture, Civil, Environmental and Applied Systems Engineering, Chemical, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Materials and Bioengineering and Life Science and Biotechnology.  Under the concepts of “system design,” “urban design” and “manufacturing,” each major program aims to cultivate the abilities to understand the essence of phenomena behind advanced knowledge or new technology, to approach technical problems from both of hardware and software, and to demonstrate the functions of substances in a variety of systems and devices and foster talented human resources with abilities to elucidate advanced research issues of technological social systems from the perspective of science and engineering, and to lead industries of next generation in the international stages.

 The Graduate School awards the degree of master (Science) to those students in the fields of “Mathematics” and “Pure and Applied Physics” and the degree of master (Engineering)to those in other fields, who have completed the prescribed curriculum by receiving research guidance in the respective field and have acquired the following knowledge and skills, abilities to think, judge and express themselves, as well as proactive attitude:

• Knowledge and Skills
  Students have acquired a high-level of knowledge and skills of the respective specialized field of science and engineering required for playing an active role as researchers or highly-qualified professionals and can make full use of them with the ability of logical and deductive thinking and value creativity.

• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement, and Expression

  Students have ability to think autonomously from a global perspective and to transmit their views by using English skills which are indispensable for collecting global academic information.

  Students can contribute to the society by demonstrating high-levels of the power of “Think and Act” to solve issues while keeping smooth communication with others.

• Educational Contents:

  As for lecture and seminar subjects, the Graduate School systematically configures the general subjects in the Graduate School, the general subjects in the major program, and the specialized subjects designated by the respective field in order for students to acquire high qualified knowledge and skills efficiently.

  As for practice subjects, the Graduate School arranges seminars under academic advisors and provides elaborate research guidance for enabling individual students to acquire high-levels of research ability

  The Graduate School offers dispatch-based practice which allows acquisition of credits by dispatching the students to the domestic or overseas research institutions in order to encourage students to conduct broad range of global research activities.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  The levels of acquisition of knowledge and skills will be evaluated through integrating the results of tests at the end of or during the semester, and screening the master’s thesis or specified research task.

  The Graduate School aims to enable students to acquire outstanding knowledge and skills of Clinical Psychology from both academic and practical aspects efficiently by systematically configuring lectures and experiments and practicum.

  The Graduate School configures its courses so as to promote professional ethics, self-development as well as professional knowledge, skills, and abilities for research, development and analysis in clinical psychology and promotes integrated abilities in the field of clinical psychology.

  With small size seminars and practicums, personal attention will be paid to each student fostering an educational system conductive to the acquisition of advanced research skills, as well as professional knowledge and skills in clinical psychology.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  Through a comprehensive system of evaluation combining course grades, individual evaluations by mentors, masters’ thesis appraisal, the acquisition of advanced knowledge, skills, critical thinking and judgement, expressiveness pertaining to the field of clinical psychology will be evaluated.

  The Graduate School aims to enable students to efficiently acquire outstanding knowledge and skills in both theory and practice of cognitive psychology by configuring lectures, experiments and practicum systematically.

  The Graduate School arranges lectures and practicum to bestow high quality expertise in clinical psychology as well as knowledge education through skill and clinical practicum to nurture the power of self-growth and professional ethics as professionals of mind.  Thus the Graduate School aims to foster professionals of clinical psychology with upstanding character through the provided high quality knowledge and skills.

  From the second year students will be assigned to medical welfare, industry and career courses in order to acquire the knowledge and skills required for each specialized course.  Furthermore, through collaborated clinical guidance practicum in small classes as well as clinical practicum at the facilities outside of the campus, students will have further chance to increase their knowledge.

  In Practice Subjects, students acquire the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to practical issues and to contribute to society by conducting education and research in coordination with outside facilities and local governments.

  The Graduate School provides academic advisors in order to foster human resources who have a broad interdisciplinary perspective and at the same time will be accepted as a professional of each academic field through manifold guidance.  If necessary, plural advisors may be offered to one student.  Under hospitable guidance system, the Graduate School also provides opportunities for the students to cultivate the ability of critical thinking required for research activities along with academic ethics as researchers through Exercise Subjects and other subjects.

 The Graduate School of Health and Well-being cultivates health and exercise instructors and also physical education and sports instructors as highly-qualified professionals, and provides basic education for human health and well-being researchers with an interdisciplinary and practical perspective.  Thus the Graduate School accepts through a variety of entrance examinations those who have the following knowledge and skills, abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression, as well as proactive attitudes:

• as for the graduates from the undergraduate course of the Faculty, to have acquired expertise of the specialized area in the undergraduate course.  as for the other students, to have basic knowledge required for the promotion of health and well-being.
• To have abilities to think autonomously from a global perspective through studies of the undergraduate course or social experiences equivalent to them, and to have willingness to contribute to society by demonstrating the capabilities of “Think and Act”, or comprehensive abilities of judgement and activities recommended by the University, while keeping an interactive communication with others.
• To be always conscious of the needs of the times and to have willingness and dispositions to proactively study academic fields on health and well-being.

■ Ph. D. Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Health and Well-being (Ph.D. Degree Program) aims to cultivate researchers who are capable of promoting human health and well-being from the perspective of “being healthy truly required for people” and highly-qualified professionals who can contribute to realization of health or sports promotion.  Thus the Graduate School provides general and adult entrance examinations and accepts those who have the following knowledge and skills, abilities of thinking, judgement, and expression as well as proactive attitudes as the students of Ph.D. Degree Program:

• As for students from the Graduates School (Master’s Degree Program), to have acquired expertise of the specialized academic field in the master’s degree program.  As for the other students, to have knowledge required for the promotion of health and well-being equivalent level of students with the master’s degree;
• to have abilities of autonomous thinking from a global perspective through studies in the master’s degree program or social experiences equivalent to them and to have the willingness to contribute to society by understanding regional issues and demonstrating the capabilities of “Think and Act”, or comprehensive abilities of judgement and activities recommended by the University, while keeping an interactive communication with others.
• To be always conscious of the needs of the times and have willingness and dispositions to proactively study academic areas related to health and well-being with high-levels of professional ethics.

Diploma Policy

■ Professional Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Accountancy (Professional Degree Program) awards the Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accountancy to those who meet international standards and are proficient in theories and practices of accountancy.

• Knowledge and Skills
  Students are proficient in theories and practices required for professionals of accountancy, have acquired professional ethics and rich sense of accountancy as well as sophisticated abilities to judge and think, and can make full use of them.
• Abilities of Thinking, Judgement and Expression
  Students can respond to the needs of the society by demonstrating the capabilities of “Think and Act” as professionals of accountancy with wholesome mind, and play a leading role in the fields of auditing, industry and public agencies.
• Proactive Attitudes
  Students are well informed of the internationalization and IT field, and can play an active role as professionals of accountancy with highly advanced abilities in finance, law, tax and management.

■ Professional Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Accountancy (Professional Degree Program) configures its curriculum based on the following points with a view to enabling students to become proficient in theories and practices required for professionals of accountancy, and acquire professional ethics, rich sense of accountancy as well as sophisticated abilities to judge and think.

• Educational Contents:

  The Graduate School configures its curriculum in order for students (1) to become highly proficient in theories and practices satisfied with international standards and (2) to develop professional ethics for public interests, as its basic policy that is to place accounting and auditing in the center and show the career support to select their career from a wide variety of options.

  The Graduate School provides horizontally Introductory Subject Group to prepare before receiving professional education, Basic Subject Group to acquire minimally required knowledge for professionals, Development Subject Group to deepen the basic subjects to develop into the related academic fields, and Application and Practice Subject Group to acquire the abilities for professionals of accountancy immediately applicable in the economic society.  The Graduate School also provides vertically Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing, Law and Tax, and Business and Economics.

  The Graduate School provides Transversal Subjects such as personal seminar for the learning guidance and the career planning to each student, and for the guidance on thesis preparation for research oriented students.

• Evaluation of Learning Achievements:

  Learning achievements will be evaluated objectively and strictly through accurately reflecting the competence of students based on the defined evaluation criteria.

  Learning achievements will be evaluated comprehensively by the results of presentation and discussions besides the written and/or report examinations, and the evaluation criteria are set strictly based on the absolute or relative scales corresponding to the characteristics of each subject.

  Abilities of thinking, judgement and expression, summarized as the “Think and Act” capabilities, will be evaluated by tallying up the results of the University’s Competency Research in Student Assessment.

  Proactive attitudes to learn will be evaluated by tallying up the results of various student assessment researches.

Admission Policy

■ Professional Degree Program

 The Graduate School of Accountancy (Professional Degree Program) aims to foster accountants who meet international standards and are proficient in theories and practices, and accepts through various entrance examinations those who have the competence and motivation to receive advanced education of accountancy.

• For the above purpose, the Graduate School mainly accepts advanced students who have knowledge and skills of bookkeeping and accounting, and also accepts beginners with an excellent sense of accounting.
• The Graduate School implements the general entrance examination, the transfer admission examination within the University, and the recommendation examination for undergraduates of the designated universities, and also implements the entrance examinations for international students, people with the qualification, and working adults from the viewpoint of widely accepting various talented people internationally and socially.
• The Graduate School accepts students who have received professional education of accountancy, not only through the written examination to check basic knowledge of accounting such as bookkeeping and cost accounting, but also through the oral examination added with an essay or document screening.
