Selected for “FY2009 Program for Promoting University Education and Student Support (Theme A)” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

“Development of Active Learning under Cooperation of the Three Entities”, which Kansai University had applied, was selected for the “FY2009 Program for Promoting University Education and Student Support”. This is among 96 projects selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) from 649 applications submitted by national, public and private universities, and other institutions in Japan.

Development of Active Learning under Cooperation of the Three Entities ? shifting to “How to Learn” supported by staff members from the Graduate Schools
2.Term:
FY2009-2011
3.Outline:
The program aims to improve education methods at Kansai University, as a large-scale private university, and to develop Active Learning under the Three Entities Cooperation which consists of teachers, administrative staff and students. Its goal includes: (1) fostering of Learning Assistant (LA) from undergraduate students to support Active Learning; (2) a paradigm shift, from “How to Teach” to “How to Learn”, of activities toward education improvement and Faculty Development (FD); and (3) enhancement of the Three Entities Cooperation, in which staff members from the Graduate Schools will play central roles.
LA is an improved Student Assistant (SA) and is expected to serve as: (1) a role model showing one’s active attitude toward learning; (2) a facilitator in learning assistance; and (3) a messenger to convey one’s own experience.
