Selected for “Project for Establishment of Support System for Advancing Educational and Research Functions” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
“Establishment of a Research Base for Enhancing International Competitiveness”, which Kansai University had applied, was selected for the “Project for Establishment of Support System for Advancing Educational and Research Functions”.
This is among 62 projects selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) from 89 applications submitted by national, public and private universities in Japan. Those universities were required to have received Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from MEXT over the last three years and have a high number of graduate students in doctoral courses.

Kansai University’s four decision-making divisions ? the Division of Research Development, the Division of Teaching and Learning, the Division of Community and Business Partnerships, and the Division of International Affairs ? will selectively promote promising research projects. Under the leadership of the president, a committee will be set up with the aim of controlling the overall those projects. Each project, a practical research project requiring an effective support system, is expected to advance the support system for educational and research functions of the university.
The projects are as follows.
(1) The Division of Research Development
“practical research about the establishment of crisis management system and integrated archives for research activities of the university”
(2) The Division of Teaching and Learning
“research about the improvement of ability of graduates resulted from systematized and structured curriculums as well as advanced career education”
(3) The Division of Community and Business Partnerships
“Practical research about industry-university-government cooperation for producing innovation in the region”
(4) The Division of International Affairs
“comprehensive research about the globalization of higher education”
“Support Personnel Core Center (Tentative)” will be established to support the projects and is expected to perform functions, such as meeting the needs, allocating personnel, upskilling of personnel and accumulating know-how.
