Graduate School of Letters

The Graduate School of Letters is comprised of 15 divisions in the master’s program and 9 divisions in the doctoral program. Graduate students major in one of the disciplines offered by these divisions, and may further take EU-Japan Education Research as a minor.

One characteristic of the Graduate School is that students can receive detailed and intensive guidance from professors in their field of research. Furthermore, the Graduate School offers a variety of liberal arts subjects, enabling students to acquire a wide range of knowledge, from humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and international relations, and to locate their learning within the vast field of human intellectual activity.

As a result of being trained in a specific field of humanities with an interdisciplinary perspective, students will become either scholars with rich academic knowledge and research abilities or people with high levels of expertise who can play active roles in various areas of society.
