  The Graduate School of Foreign Language Education and Research was established in 2002, and is the first graduate school of its kind in the nation. The school accepts 25 students a year into its master’s program, and 3 students a year into its Ph.D. program. Both programs offer three particular areas of specialization: Language Teaching Methodology, Materials Development/Educational Technology, and Linguistic Analysis. The master’s program strives to maintain a balance between theoretical and practical subjects. The Ph.D. program offers tutorial courses on theoretical issues. The goal of the school is to foster researchers and leaders in the field of foreign language teaching.
