Mechanical engineering is the core of various basic technologies and is responsible for various scaled devices ranging from huge mechanical devices to extremely small electronic devices. In this department, we are able to give advanced education and research guidance about mechanical engineering to graduate students, in which basic fields and new interdisciplinary fields are organically connected with each other. Subjects in basic fields are Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Mechanical Dynamics, Machining Processes, Material Physics, Tribology, Measurement and Control Engineering, Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering, etc. Subjects in new interdisciplinary fields are Robotics, Optical Engineering, Imaging Diagnostics, Ergonomics, Mechatronics, Micro-electro-mechanical Systems (MEMS), Biomechanics, Nanotechnology, etc. Graduate students work on the latest themes in each research field. They acquire a basic grounding in the mechanical engineering necessary to become a highly skilled and internationally competent engineer through presentations at domestic and international academic conferences and practical training.
Based on these educational philosophies, the following research areas are provided in the department of mechanical engineering.
