Dr. Nobuko Chikamatsu (DePaul University) visited IIGE

Dr. Nobuko Chikamatsu, Associate Professor and Japanese Program Director at DePaul University, visited the IIGE office on Monday, August 1st. She met with IIGE vice-director Keiko Ikeda and IIGE coordinators to discuss about the various COIL programs at Kansai University and future opportunities for collaboration. They also discussed emerging trends in virtual exchange such as micro credentialing, digital badges and COIL in the metaverse.

DePaul University became a JPN-COIL association member in May 2021 and IIGE faculty have engaged in various COIL partnerships with DePaul University faculty. In Spring 2022, prof. Chikamatsu and prof. Ikeda facilitated a language-based COIL, during which KU students (enrolled in a Japanese language teaching methodology course) collaborated with DePaul University students (enrolled in a Japanese translation course) on a joint project.
