8月5日（月）はピースボート初日アクティビティがありました。学生たちはピースボートの乗客・乗船員に紹介され、プログラムナビゲーターであるDr. Craig N. Shealy (i-BAVIエグゼクティブ・ディレクター、ジェームズ・マディソン大学教授)による講義：「誰一人取り残さない」（No One Left Behind）に出席しました。

Students participated in the first of the onboard seminars, including topics on beliefs and values, atomic bombings in Japan, and on campaigns to foster nuclear disarmament. In addition, students undertook daily work (that continued throughout the voyage) that included updating reflective journals and attending small group briefing sessions.
