Global Career Mind Program : UCB Day 2 Activities

Day 2 of the UCB program began with a 30 minute reflection writing exercise, where they used the Canvas LMS to reply to their peers' posts on the discussion topics from Day 1.

The overarching theme of the day was "Building Social Capital" through communicating confidence and taking the first step toward a global business career reflecting on the Q&A from the Day 1 professional panel. The students prepared to share an "interesting and engaging" story about themselves with a goal of introducing themselves in a professional introductory video for their resumes.

In the second workshop, titled Presentation Skills Practice: "Tell Me About Yourself", American entrepreneur Buddy Burke (profile below) was invited to speak on Pause, Pitch, and Pace--three important aspects of public speaking. Students were given a chance to record videos practicing this vital concept.

GUEST SPEAKER PROFILE

Buddy Burke

Buddy Burke is an entrepreneur who loves public speaking. He realized at his own wedding
that he was a fabulously horrible speaker...so he decided to improve. He joined
Toastmasters, took classes, and accepted every challenge. Some wonderful people helped
him, and he created a unique, game-changing formula which you can use immediately. He
taught public speaking for Apple and is a guest lecturer on the subject at numerous
universities in the US, South America and Europe. Buddy loves to help innovators craft
their stories, and deliver them in engaging ways to press, investors, and clients.
