As part of the RECSIE Special Webinar Series on "The Novel Corona Crisis and International Education," IIGE Vice-Director Prof. Keiko Ikeda and Kansai University Prof. Tomoki Furukawa presented a joint workshop on COIL via ZOOM on Friday, April 24th titled, "Series II : Workshop on the Methods and Resources to Deliver Online/Remote Foreign Language Classes."

 

The workshop, conducted in Japanese with English annotation, introduced a series of basic ICT tools for conducting remote language classes for higher education institution instructors to be applied in various virtual settings for beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level users. Tips and techniques for utilizing each tool for various types of activities touching on the 4 core language-learning skills were outlined, and resources were provided for attendees to research and test out in their own remote classes. The workshop finished with a brief Q&A session.
