IIGE VE/COIL Winter Workshops 2019
IIGE held a full day of workshops on Saturday, December 14th at Kansai University Senriyama Campus. Speakers presenting on the following topics:
1) Education Systems in the World (ENG) : Overcoming Different Norms, Policies and Procedures when Introducing COIL into Your Institution’s Curriculum
(ABOVE: Veronica Onorevole joins the workshop via ZOOM, an ICT tool used for COILing, for a round-robin Q&A with a panel of experienced COIL professors.)
2) COIL/VE Task Design
(ABOVE: Attendees discuss how to bring together syllabi from various disciplines for a proposed COIL project.)
3) ICT Action Lab for Virtual Exchange
(ABOVE RIGHT: Attendees try out various ICT tools used for COILing -- PADLET and FLIPGRID tools pictured below.)
During the three workshops, attendees had the opportunity to collaborate with each other on tasks simulating group vs. collaborative work, brainstorming formulating interdisciplinary COIL project syllabi, and testing ICT tools (such as Padlet and Flipgrid) used for asynchronous COILing.
The sessions wrapped up with a coffee break hour, during which time attendees were able to network and form connections in a more casual setting (pictured below).
