KU-UHH COIL Plus Program : Icebreaking Session

Kansai University "Global AwarenessⅡ" students led by Professor Keiko Ikeda connected with University of Hawaii at Hilo Professor Scott Saft’s “Comparative and Historical Linguistics" class to kick off their COIL collaboration with an ice-breaking live session on Thursday morning, November 14th.

4 KU students and 14 UHH students introduced themselves at the start of the session, followed by a short Japanese-Hawaiian language exchange. The UHH students introduced greeting words in Hawaiian, and the KU students introduced some expressions in their local dialect.  KU/UHH students will upload their individual profiles to Padlet, an ICT tool used to facilitate international student communication, and virtually interact by posting questions and answers for each other over the next two weeks.

A group of KU students is to visit UHH this coming February 2020 to meet their COIL partners.  For details about KCC-UHH-KU COIL Plus Program, visit
