KU Press Release: JIGE Business Promotion & Advisory Board Forum Held

On February 21st, in Washington D.C. (local time), JIGE (The Japan Hub for Innovative Global Education), in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the United States, hosted a forum with a focus on members of the advisory board from the United States.

JIGE is a project launched following its selection under the "FY2023 Support for Creation of Inter-University Exchanges with US Universities using COIL/VE Style Education" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, which was jointly applied for by Kansai University, Tohoku University, and Chiba University. JIGE is dedicated to fostering human resources through the educational method of "Blended Mobility" across multiple universities, with a focus on Japan and the United States.

Following the JIGE kickoff forum held in January at Chiba University's Sumida Campus and Kansai University's Suita Mirai Campus, this forum was organized to enhance cooperation and networking with partner institutions in the United States.

The forum took place at the former residence of the Embassy of Japan in the United States, where participants from approximately 30 universities and institutions across the United States, including advisory board members, gathered.

Discussions ranged from understanding the current state of education to various ideas for project implementation. Through keynote speeches and panel discussions, participants shared insights into the challenges faced by Japan and the United States regarding program development incorporating the core of the project, "Blended Mobility," ensuring the quality of international education, and utilizing microcredentials for international recognition, and facilitating meaningful exchanges of ideas.

This forum serves as a catalyst for further advancing projects with overseas partner universities and institutions in the United States and elsewhere.
