On Friday, December 8th, IIGE Vice-Director Keiko Ikeda presented at a webinar organized by the Dutch Organization for Internationalisation in Education (NUFFIC). 

The webinar, titled Nuffic Connects: the Hero's Journey, focused on best practices for Internationalization at Home. During the session, Alfonso Díaz Segura (Corporate Director for Business Operations, Marketing and Internationalization at CEU in Spain) discussed Campbell’s theory of ‘the hero’s journey’ as a model for implementing IaH in higher education institutions. Using this model, Dr. Ikeda and Brenda García Portillo (Director of Internationalization Projects) reflected on their journey implementing COIL and IaH at Kansai University and Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico. 

After these examples, the participants split up in break-out rooms and discussed what IaH looks like in their institution and how the lessons learned can be applied to the Dutch context.
