SIIEJ 2023: Blended Mobility as Next Phase of Practice - Blending Online International Education and Mobility Programs

On Friday, July 21st IIGE Vice-Director Keiko Ikeda and Specially Appointed Associate Professor Sajjad Pouromid led a session at SIIEJ 2023 titled "Blended Mobility as Next Phase of Practice: Blending Online International Education and Mobility Programs." The focus of this session was on Blended Mobility, an innovative approach to international education that effectively combines global learning methods that utilize digital technologies and ICTs (such as COIL/VE) with traditional mobility programs such as study abroad and training abroad, creating what is known as the international education 2.0 model.

During the session, various digitally enhanced modalities for online international education were explored, including COIL/Virtual Exchange, Virtual Mobility, and JV-Campus. The discussion further delved into the concept of Blended Learning and its role in leveraging the integration of online and onsite learning.

The session was not a one-sided lecture; rather, it actively engaged the participants through a mini-workshop activity that included an icebreaker activity and some time for a free discussion. The session concluded with a brief Q&A session that provided a platform for an enriching exchange of ideas and perspectives.
