On October 14, Kansai University students who are enrolled in the ASEAN Studies course gathered online to welcome guest speakers from ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC). Ms. Tomoko Miyauchi, Public Information officer at AJC, gave a presentation on the center including what the center and ASEAN do, why it is important to know more about ASEAN, and a brief introduction of each ASEAN country. During the presentation, the importance of the ties between Japan and ASEAN countries was pointed out and the speaker remarked that those countries should be seen as our allies. The students were also given an opportunities to hear from an AJC officer from Malaysia to learn about her country and culture. The students were able to know more about the organization and ask questions related to the history of ASEAN, efforts during the pandemic, and more detailed situations in ASEAN countries.
