Kansai University IIGE Featured in Asahi Shimbun Online

Kansai University IIGE was featured in an article in the Asahi Shimbun online on JPN-COIL Association member Kwansei Gakuin University and COIL, published on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

The article, which detailed the results of a COIL collaboration between Kwansei Gakuin Associate Professor Matthias Hennings and partner Trinity University (U.S.) was also highlighted in a recent edition of our IIGE I-Paper (click here to download the March 2021 edition).

From the article:

"In December 2018, Kansai University (Suita City, Osaka Prefecture), which has been implementing COIL since 2014 and was the first university in Japan to do so, launched the JPN-COIL Association to support the exchange of information among universities nationwide interested in COIL, matching with overseas universities, and training for instructors.

According to Professor Keiko Ikeda of the Kansai University Division of International Affairs, the number of universities interested in COIL has greatly increased in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Association started out with about 15 member universities, but as of June 3 this year, the number has increased to 37 universities. Overseas universities have also been very active in COIL, resulting less trouble in matching universities with each other."
