IIGE and ACE provide the additional webinars to the participants related to U.S.-Japan Rapid Response Virtual Exchange/COIL Transformation Lab Training.
Entitled "Time is Relative: Balancing Asynchronous and Synchronous Activities", we discussed how to make/design collaborative activities in an online class so that students can engage with one another in a meaningful way despite the time difference. Assistant Professor Lisa Kobuke of University of Hawai'i Kapi'olani Community College and Specially Appointed Associate Professor Don Bysouth of IIGE shared a case study of how they overcame a 19-hour time difference and pandemic challenge in their COIL this spring.
