The IIGE Professional Development Series 2022 "Building Global Resilience with I.D.E.A. (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access)" held its kick-off session, "IIGE Professional Development Series #1: Metaverse, AI, and Collaborative Learning Online - International Education with Advanced Technologies," on June 15th (JST), in which panelistsfrom leading Edtech companies (Matthew Hightower, Class2Class; Christian Alyea, Study Abroad Association; and Matthew Sussman, FLOW) discussed the next generation of online international education. The conversation, led by IIGE Director Dr. Keiko Ikeda, centered around digitally accelerated teaching and learning, addressing the benefits and challenges of rapidly-developing digital technology-based educational methods, metaverse and AI applications reminiscent of the rise of a hyperpresence society, and what transformations practices such as COIL undergo as we embrace these technologies.
