The IIGE Professional Development Series 2021 "NO TURNING BACK: Welcoming a New Era of International Learning and Engagement. 国際学習とエンゲージメントの新しい時代を迎えて" held its third session "Emerging Modalities for International Learning and Engagement." In this webinar, the panelists pointed out the importance of higher education institutions partnering with private (third-party) providers to provide digital learning opportunities to address the growing need and demand for virtual educational experiences to elevate new ways of engagement.

 

Moreover, the need to provide solutions that address current learners' needs, especially with regard to the issues of socio-economic challenges in international education, both during the pandemic and beyond was highlighted. Facilitator and co-sponsor of the series, Dr. Anthony C. Ogden (Gateway International Group) observed "[These new modalities for international learning are] not a replacement of education abroad, but an enhancement."

 

The session concluded with a panel discussion, in which questions such as "How can private sectors and public institutions successfully collaborate and what are the benefits?" and "How do you refer to various types of modalities and what do they imply?" were explored and discussed.
