IIGE Professional Development Seminar Series 2021-2022IIGE

IIGE is pleased to announce its upcoming Professional Development Seminar Series 2021-2022:

NO TURNING BACK –

WELCOMING A NEW ERA OF INTERNATIONAL LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT

国際学習とエンゲージメントの新しい時代を迎えて

SEMINAR SERIES WEBSITE: https://plusku-coil.wixsite.com/iigeseminarseries21

Although much in higher education has begun to change, our shared goal remains - to graduate lifelong learners who have nuanced understanding of the international dimensions of their chosen disciplines and the intercultural competency skills needed to live and work successfully in a globally interconnected world.  Although our goal has not changed, how we realize this goal for our students has.

Students still want to study abroad and to live and learn alongside people of different cultures and backgrounds. International mobility will certainly continue in time, but a greatly expanded repertoire of modalities for international learning and engagement that do not rely solely on mobility have emerged and begun to move into mainstream programming.

There is no turning back. To truly support next generation students will require that we avoid the temptation of returning to international mobility as a dominant modality but instead begin to explore new directions in international learning and engagement. And an increasing number of institutions around the world are doing just that! These institutions are successfully piloting modalities beyond mobility, including COIL programming, virtual internships, course-level exchange alliances and much more.

In this series, Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE) will facilitate a timely and important dialogue on next generation international education, featuring a combination of interactive workshops, webinars and seminars. Leading international education leaders from around the world will engage participants in forward-looking discussions of emerging technologies, modalities, and pedagogies for advancing next generation learning and engagement.
