Summer 2024 J-MCP Program: Final Presentation

The Summer 2024 session of the J-MCP concluded this week, marking the end of an intensive six-week journey filled with creativity, collaboration, and global learning. Over 70 students from Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the USA came together to take part in two dynamic courses: Skills for Society 5.0 and Entrepreneurship for Social Business.

The Skills for Society 5.0 course explored the intersection of Society 5.0, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the upcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka, giving students the tools to think critically about the future of society and how technological advancements can create a more inclusive and sustainable world. Meanwhile, Entrepreneurship for Social Business focused on creating sustainable business models that address real-world problems while fostering economic growth.

Throughout the program, students were guided by esteemed professors from Kansai University, Chiba University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and Panyapiwat Institute of Management (Thailand). These experts brought a wealth of knowledge from their respective fields, helping students navigate complex global issues and encouraging innovative thinking. Their mentorship and insights were invaluable in shaping the students’ final projects.

As the final project, each of the seven teams created a website to propose innovative solutions to pressing global issues. These websites served as both educational platforms and action-oriented solutions, reflecting the students’ dedication to making a positive impact on the world.

During the final presentation, each team delivered an overview of their work and responded to questions from their peers, who had posted their inquiries on Padlet, an online discussion platform. The presentations demonstrated the students’ ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and leverage digital tools to create real-world solutions.

As the Summer 2024 J-MCP comes to a close, we reflect on the incredible accomplishments of our participants and look forward to what’s next.
