Taiwan Blended Mobility Program Diaries
Program Begins
After completing the online COIL sessions, the Taiwan Blended Mobility Program has officially begun. During the virtual exchange, students from Kansai University (Japan), Soochow University (Taiwan), and the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo (USA) engaged in language exchange, learning each other’s languages while also developing skills in communication and cross-cultural understanding.
Now, Kansai University students have arrived at Soochow University in Taiwan. Over the next 10 days, they will participate in a variety of activities, including Japanese language teaching practice at Soochow University, an English course on Japanese culture and affairs, and fieldwork across Taiwan.
Day 2
We participated in the "Introduction to Japanese Culture" Class (taught in English) offered at Soochow University. Since the semester had just started in Taiwan and this was the first class, we introduced ourselves in English to the Taiwanese students at first and deepened exchanges. After that, Professor. Peng gave a lecture on Japanese annual events and an introduction to Japanese culture. It was very interesting to learn about Japanese culture from a foreigner's perspective, and it was very stimulating to be in a class with local university students.
Day 3
Japanese language teaching practice has begun! Based on the lesson plans we made in advance, we taught Japanese to the students in Soochow University. A total of over 50 students participated in two classes, one at the beginner level and the other at the intermediate level. We learned many things through teaching Japanese, such as cross-cultural exchange with the students of Soochow University and how to get the language across. Above all, we were greatly stimulated by the diligence with which the students of Soochow University studied! Next time we would like to meet with all of students who participated in this program in Japan.
Day 4
On September 10th, the on-site program officially launched under the guidance of Prof. Markane Sipraseuth and program coordinator Rob Kuipers. Building on the knowledge gained from the online sessions, students embarked on a deeper exploration of three selected companies. Their challenge was to develop innovative product proposals tailored specifically to the Thai market.
