With our concordant goal to contribute to the career development of global professionals in the hopes of bridging the gap between Japan and the U.S., Kansai University IIGE (Institute for Innovative Global Education) and the ALLEX Foundation (Alliance for Language Learning and Educational Exchange) are pleased to pledge our mutual cooperation in furthering language learning through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL).

The Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE), established in 2018 under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Inter-University Exchange Project, acts as the platform for the COIL initiative in Japan, and aims to build new ties and strengthen those existing between Japanese and higher education institutions all over the world by introducing COIL as a mode of virtual collaboration.

The ALLEX Foundation, established in 2003 by Thomas Mason, Jr. (ALLEX Executive Director) and Kazunori Ueno (ALLEX Chairperson), seeks "...to increase the number of professionally trained instructors in American classrooms by providing universities an economical means to establish or enhance Asian language programs."
