Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore) and Kansai University kicked off their LLC (Language Learning COIL) this month between a Japanese language class led by Judy Yip, and a Japanese Language Education Practice and Research B class of the Graduate School of Arts and Letters, led by Professor Keiko Ikeda (Kansai University), Vice-Director of IIGE, respectively.

 

 

 

The project commenced with a four-week course on the state of Japanese language education in Singapore, which included lectures, discussions, and ice-breaking activities facilitated by the lead instructor, Judy Yip. Subsequently, the students undertook a three-week language-learning focused COIL project. The experience proved very valuable for the NYP students, who are beginner-level learners of Japanese, and KU students who previously had no experience in teaching Japanese to JSL learners overseas.
