Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course

This course is offered for two to three weeks in summer and winter to deepen participants' understanding of Japanese language, culture and society.
In addition to learning Japanese, participants can feel more familiar with Japan through field trips, experiencing Japanese culture, and interacting with Kansai University students.
*IJLC is different than the preparatory course (Bekka).

Class Levels
- 【Capacity】
The program will be limited to 45 participants in principle.
★About 10 to 20 participants per class
★Minimum number of participants: If the number of participants is less than 10, classes will not be held.
★ Please note that the application may close before the deadline once capacity is reached.
★ If the application closes before the deadline, a waiting list may be available.- 【Primary Class】
- This class is for students who can read, write and type Hiragana and Katakana and understand basic Japanese.
(This class is equivalent to JLPT N5 level*. The first half of primary class)
* N5 level: Please refer to the website, “JLPT Japanese-Language Proficiency Test”.(https://www.jlpt.jp/e/about/levelsummary.html)<Reading> One is able to read and understand typical expressions and sentences written in Hiragana, Katakana, and basic Kanji used in daily life.
<Listening> One is able to listen and comprehend conversations about topics regularly encountered in daily life and classroom situations, and is able to pick up necessary information from short conversations spoken slowly.
- 【Primary-Intermediate Class】
- This class is for students who can understand and use basic Japanese.
(This class is equivalent to JLPT N4 - N3 level. The second half of primary class) - 【Intermediate-Advanced Class】
- This class is for students who have advanced to the intermediate level of Japanese language and have the ability to communicate in basic Japanese.
(This class is equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher)

Access - Eligible Participants
- Students who have foreign nationality and are enrolled in a college or university, or those who have graduated from college or university within one year of starting the course.
- Application Period
- The application deadline varies depending on whether you participate in the summer or winter program; however, applications generally close approximately two and a half months before the program start date. Please note that when the schedule includes extended holiday periods such as the year-end and New Year holidays, the application deadline will be set approximately three months in advance.

Applicants who wish to enroll must complete the following procedures by the final day of the application period.
Submission of both STEP 1 and STEP 2 is required.
・STEP1:Register via the online application form (posted in the course information)
・STEP2:Upload the required certificates and a passport imageAfter completing the online form registration, please follow the instructions sent to your registered email address and upload the following documents:
➀An enrollment certificate or graduation certificate in English issued by your home institution
➁A copy of the photo page of your passport※If you do not receive an email within 24 hours after registering the online form, please contact ijlc@ml.kandai.jp.
※Once your application is completed, you will receive an email from the Kansai University International Education Center within approximately 7 days (excluding weekends and public holidays) confirming receipt of your application and providing information about the placement test.
※Completion of the application process does not guarantee participation. Confirmation of participation and information on whether the course will be offered will be sent by email approximately one week after the application deadline.
