Questions about the job!

What are your reasons for applying for a job at the company?
I went job hunting looking for an environment where employees can improve themselves by competing and supporting each other, while also keeping in mind the following 2 key points: that “I would like to be active worldwide” and that “I would like to spread Monozukuri (manufacturing) of Japan”. I felt that KYOCERA Corporation has the leading technologies by which to produce many products that hold the world’s top market shares and also provides young employees with the opportunities to play active roles globally. Additionally, under the “Extended Family Policy”, everyone considers their colleagues as family and sympathizes with the idea of “working as a team”. For these reasons, I decided to join KYOCERA Corporation.
What are the contents of your job?
My job is to support local sales activities while communicating with the Sales Department of the local overseas affiliate I am in charge of. In order to satisfy my clients, I make it a point to provide prompt and proper support by communicating closely with the Production Department as well as the local overseas affiliate, so that both can perform their work smoothly.
What are the appeals of your job?
I feel especially satisfied when I am able to accept orders after working closely together with the local marketing department to overcome various barriers. As I had wanted to do a job in which I can use my English skills that I had built while studying abroad, I think I am able to do the job which I really want to do.

What was the moment you thought that you could make use of your studies in the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences?

It was my experiences of having debates as part of the research group. For the debates, students must consider what to say by collecting information for the topic provided and also by considering the strategy for offense and defense. Through such experiences, I could obtain the abilities to think logically, collect information, and ask questions. At present, I think I can make use of these skills when I collect the necessary information to sell our products and draw up strategies for how to develop the conversations with the local affiliates or the production department.

What did you work hard for during your university days?

It was when I served as a member of the Cultural Festival Executive Committee. Within it, I belonged to the General Planning Office of the Organization Committee that handles big projects in the Cultural Festival. In the General Planning Office, I planned a comedy charity project with “love and peace” as the keywords. It was also a project that served as a charity event for the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster. By giving a supportive push to students to pursue their dreams to become comedians, we created a contest for comedians to bring smiles to the audience. In order for the contents of the project to contribute to making everyone happy, all the members of the Office organized the project, negotiated outside of the company, conducted accounting management, etc. Although it was just 2 years and a very short period, we were able to keep updating the number of visitors every year and thus had a very good experience.

What are the characteristics of the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences?

As the Takatsuki Muse Campus where the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences is located contains only one faculty, it is an environment where students can easily get along with each other. In the courses that all the students must take, everyone has multiple chances to meet. Thus, I think that it is an advantage of the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences that there are many chances for the students to get along with each other.

Lastly, please leave a message for the entrance examinees of our university/the current students!!

I would like all the examinees and the current students to be active in the seminar activities. As all the teachers of the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences are devoted to the education of their students, they put themselves in the students’ shoes. In the seminar I used to belong to, I was able to gain a lot of experiences such as in field works I wanted to do or in overseas seminar classes via Skype. Under conditions where you can challenge yourself to do anything that you are interested in, I really recommend that you gain various experiences.
