What are your reasons for applying for a job at the company?

　I felt that I would be able to make use of the knowledge that I learned in university.
My reason for applying to the Takatsuki Municipal Office was that Takatsuki City is the municipal that provides disaster measures together with many companies, universities, and citizens. Additionally, from the standpoint of location, it has the possibility of becoming the disaster prevention headquarters of Osaka Prefecture. Thus, I felt that I would be able to make full use of the knowledge that I learned in university.

What are the contents of your job?

　By disclosing the information that Takatsuki City has, we increase transparency of municipal activities.
At present, I belong to the Legal Liaison Division. By conducting the duties of releasing the information that Takatsuki city has to the people inside and outside the city, we increase transparency of municipal activities.　Additionally, we provide advice for collecting of mails from inside and outside of the municipality, for dealing with official documents of each department, as well as for dealing with personal information.

What are the appeals of your job?

　A sense of responsibility and purpose that we must transmit accurate information.
From the standpoint of disclosing information, first of all, we need to know the people who belong to the same organization as ourselves. A sense of responsibility and purpose that we must transmit accurate information at all times is one of the motivations for my job. Additionally, in the Legal Liaison Division, I have a lot of opportunities to interact with officials in other departments. Thus, ease in building horizontal relationships is one of the characteristics of working in our department. I think that by taking advantage of these, I would be able to realize future career development.

What was the moment you thought that you could make use of your studies in the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences?

　The skills that I have developed by debating have been efficiently utilized in various settings.
　The job of municipal officials is to think and take actions as a team, in which the ability to cooperate with other people is in high demand. Because of this, the abilities developed by the debates that I have worked on in the seminar are extremely useful. In the debates, my “communication abilities”, “ability to take action”, and “ability to argue” were improved. I believe that I can make full use of such abilities in the conversations with people at my workplace.
　Furthermore, as I had a lot of opportunities to speak in public, I believe that the experiences of presenting in front of the teachers and students of other seminars have become my assets. In the future, as it is likely that I will have opportunities to lecture in front of newly employed officials, I want to demonstrate the skills that I have obtained from the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences when the time comes.

What did you work hard for during your university days?

　I have obtained various kinds of abilities by working hard on the debates with my colleagues.
I worked on the administrative research study under Associate Professor Shouzo Nagata that specialized in “Public Administration/ Administration of Disaster Mitigation”. I studied about administration while performing research regarding disaster areas for reports in academic conferences and for debates with the colleagues of my seminar. I could enjoy studying　 administration by laughing, being in trouble, sometimes clashing, and spending a lot of time with each other. I was sometimes worried about not having been capable of debating successfully. However, by holding meetings for reviewing with the colleagues in my team and repeated practice, I overcame my weakness. Through such experiences, I became able to obtain the strength to withstand criticism, communication abilities, and the ability to work and achieve something in cooperation with others.

What are the characteristics of the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences?

　You can obtain strong ties with your colleagues!
While focusing on “Safety/Security”, you can learn a lot of things in many fields in the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences, the faculty where arts and sciences are integrated. I believe that this faculty is really suitable for students who wish to find what they will aim for and what they want to do.
　Additionally, one of the appeals of this faculty is that the students can experience various kinds of practical classes outside the university that are quite rare in other faculties. As the campus is compact in size, I believe that this faculty is the one where the students can have many opportunities to have close relationships, deepen such relationships, and cooperate with a lot of friends/colleagues.

　There are many sympathetic teachers!
In the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences, students can have close relationships with the teachers and with each other. The students can also expose themselves to many fields and broadly look for their own goals. I recommend this faculty to not only those who are interested in “safety and security”, but also to those who have yet to find what they really want to do.
After I became a working member of society, I realized with all my heart that the time I spent in university was the time when I could have my own time. I hope the current students will have the time to look for what they really want to do, and be able to zero in on what they want to do.
　In the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences, students can expose themselves to many fields of study. In addition to this, there are many sympathetic teachers. By making full use of such environment, I do hope you find your own goal in life.
