The IJLC (Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course) Summer 2026 Courses 1 & 2 have successfully concluded.

This summer, a total of 60 students from around the world participated in the program, engaging in Japanese language study and a wide variety of cultural activities. Despite Japan's intense summer heat, the participants enthusiastically embraced every opportunity to learn and enjoyed three rewarding weeks. Through exchanges with Kansai University students and hands-on Japanese cultural experiences, they gained a deeper understanding of Japan.

As part of the program, students joined off-campus excursions to Kyoto and Shiga.

In Kyoto, participants experienced Japanese culture through matcha tea-making and sutra copying (shakyo). At Daikaku-ji Temple, they showed great interest in Japan's historic architecture and traditional aesthetics. They also explored the bamboo grove and enjoyed shopping in Arashiyama, experiencing the unique charm of Kyoto.

During the excursion to Shiga, students visited Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei and participated in a karuta (traditional Japanese card game) activity. These experiences allowed them to appreciate Japan's natural beauty and cultural heritage while making many new discoveries.

The program concluded with a Final Presentation Session, where each participant gave a presentation in Japanese on a topic of personal interest. Many students presented the results of interview-based research, demonstrating the Japanese language skills and knowledge they had developed over the three-week program.

We hope that the time they spent in Japan will remain a treasured memory and inspire their future studies and personal growth. We encourage all participants to continue enjoying their Japanese language learning and pursuing their goals with confidence.

Applications for the Winter 2027 IJLC Course are scheduled to open in September.
