What are the all-gender units?

The all-gender units are living space in the dormitory for students regardless of sex.

Does the period of residency, which is 1 year, mean that I can only live there for a year?

If you wish to continue living in the dormitory, you will need to apply again during the application period for the next year and pass the selection. You can choose which dormitory to apply for each year, so you may apply to a different dormitory. However, please be reminded that you will not be guaranteed in moving into the dorm due to the screening process. You will have to go through the selection in order to live in the dormitory.

There is a signature space of the guarantor (guardian) on the application form. Does the guarantor have to be Japanese?

We ask to have your relative to fill in the guarantor section of the application form, but they do not have to be a Japanese citizen.

Can I apply even if I'm not sure if I'll be accepted to Kansai University?

Those who have received an acceptance letter are eligible to apply. However, if you decide to withdraw your enrollment at Kansai University or cancel your dormitory application after applying, please promptly notify the Kandai Pensee International Student Dormitory Support Desk.

At the first application period, I failed the selection. Can I register again on the next application period?

For new incoming students, they can apply for each of the three application periods. You can reapply to the second and third application periods.
※The application for ONLY Spring semester will be open in three separate periods.

How many people usually apply and how is the competition ratio?

It depends on the dormitory you apply for, but it is usually about 2 ~ 5 times the number of students we accept.

My parents’ home is within commuting distance, but can I apply for a dormitory?

Yes, you can apply.

Can my parents and friends stay?

The dormitories are not opened for visits. Visitors are not allowed to enter or stay at the dormitory living space. There are its own rules for visiting hours and places in each dormitory.

Is there a curfew in the dormitory?

Only Domitory Tsukigaoka has a curfew (11p.m. o'clock). Other dormitories have no curfew, but you must be careful not to disturb other residents late at night.

 Is it possible to put a TV and a refrigerator in the dorm room?

At Dormitory Shurei-ryo and Dormitory Tsukigaoka, it is possible to have a TV in your room. However, when moving out, you are required to either dispose of or take the TV with you. Disposal of TVs is regulated by the Home Appliance Recycling Law, which outlines specific procedures (with a fee), so please ensure you are fully informed before bringing a TV.

Additionally, you will need to individually arrange an NHK broadcast reception contract. Many dorm residents qualify for exemption programs designed for students, so please check if you are eligible and complete the exemption process along with the reception contract. Residents who do not qualify for an exemption must pay the reception fee themselves.

Please note that the furnishings available differ between dormitories, so be sure to carefully check the introduction page for each dormitory.

*Note: At Global House and Minami-Senri International Student Dormitory, there are no TV terminals in the rooms, so TV installation is not possible.*
