Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2018

The 4th "Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival" was held on Sunday, June 24, 2018.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2018

The campus festival is a student-centered event of the Faculty of Social Safety , and is held under the theme of "Disaster Prevention WORLD 2018-The World of Disaster Prevention is Full View" with the cooperation of Takatsuki City. We want you to know that you can work on disaster prevention from a familiar place by not only learning about disaster prevention but also exposing the world of disaster prevention.

The campus festival was temporarily threatened by the earthquake that occurred on the 18th. Part of the content of the event was changed from the original schedule, and we held a soup kitchen lunch by the residents' association, a mock shop by students, making disaster prevention goods that can be done with familiar things, and an event where you can learn disaster prevention knowledge through games. In addition, many children danced energetically at the event "Teke Teke Hanitan Dance" where the Yuru-chara "Hanitan" from Takatsuki City appeared.

Since we held the open campus for the first time at the same time, about 2,500 students, local residents, high school students, etc. visited during the rainy season and enjoyed learning in preparation for future disasters.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2017

The 3rd "Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival" was held on Sunday, June 18, 2017.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2017

Under the theme, “Let's learn, let's play, let's raise awareness of disaster!” we held various events for people to know more about disaster prevention through learning and playing. Fortunately, we were blessed with good weather, nearly 3,000 people including locals and students came, and the campus was crowded with lots of people.

The Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival opened spectacularly with a concert by the junior high and high school brass bands and the university brass band (about 100 musicians in all). Music from various genres was played such as march, musical songs, and J-POP medleys. People from a wide range of generations came to listen.

At lunch time, we served Bouillabaisse free of charge for lunch with the cooperation of the Kosobe Self-governing Association. Bouillabaisse is a typical seafood dish in the Mediterranean coastal region of France. The soup with plenty of fish, shellfish, and flavored vegetables cooked with our emergency cooker was very popular.

At the Takatsuki Gourmet & Products section, udon dumplings, onsen-karaage fried chicken, coppépan bread rolls, Takatsuki produced vegetables, Yoshi paper, and local sake were sold. Also, at the students' booths, cotton candy, frankfurters, and popcorn were sold, and some booths even had people queuing and were sold out.

In addition, there were games and presentations of research groups on disaster prevention, educational events on societal safety science learning experiences, such as disaster prevention goods craft workshops, and events related to Takatsuki city, such as parent-child football lessons and friendly games with the Konomiya Speranza Osaka Takatsuki football team, as well as an inflatable Fuwa-fuwa Hanitan bounce house. The Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival was a great success.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2016

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2016 1

Unfortunately, it was raining on the festival day, but we still had about 1,500 visitors.
Many events were held under the theme, "Let's have a Bosai (防×祭: prevention festival)", and the concept was "Local exchange place, dissemination of disaster prevention knowledge".

In the Takatsuki Gourmet & Products section, which was upgraded last year, various gourmet and special products such as udon dumplings, onsen-karaage fried chicken, vegetables, Yoshi paper, local beer, local sake, and coppépan bread rolls were sold. At student booths, cotton candy and frankfurters were sold. They were so popular and had long queues up to the parking lot and the restaurant.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2016 2

At lunch time, in cooperation with neighboring self-governing associations, we offered a German home-cooked dish, Eintopf, cooked with plenty of potatoes, carrots, onions, sausages, and lentils. The same as last year, people formed a long queue for the Eintopf made with the emergency cooker, and the dish was finished in one hour.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2016 3

In the afternoon, a talk was held by Uchida Akiko and Higuchi Daiki, who are graduates of our university and DJs of FM802, and Shiori Toriyama, who appears on the "Daily News Takatsuki Shimamoto" being broadcast on the cable TV station J:COM, and they enthusiastically talked about Takatsuki's attractions.

It was with great excitement that the entire campus blew off the rain with its many events, specifically, events where people can experience learning about societal safety science including games incorporating knowledge on disaster prevention, disaster prevention goods/crafts using familiar materials, a concert by the University Wind Symphony Orchestra, and presentations by research groups. The curtain came down in great success.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2015

The 1st "Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival" was held on Sunday, June 21, 2015.

Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival 2015

This year, we integrated the "Safety Festival" held every June and the "Campus Open Day" held every November, and the festival was an event more powerful in scale and planning content.

On the day, we were blessed with good weather, and we had about 3,000 visitors.
The Takatsuki Muse Campus Festival opened excitedly with a concert by the junior high, the high school, and the university brass bands (about 100 musicians in all). Music from various genres, from classic to J-POP, were played. People from a wide range of generations came to listen.

At lunch time, we served special minestrone soup free of charge with the cooperation of the Kosobe Self-governing Association. By using plenty of tomatoes, the soup became very tasty, and we received a lot of joyful praises such as "delicious!"

In the afternoon, a lecture was held by Nobunari Oda, who is a graduate of the university. From stories of his active era to topics related to Takatsuki, his hometown, and the lecture site were very entertaining.

Many events were held where visitors could experience the learning of societal safety science, such as research group presentations and workshops. For events related to the local area, we set up a kids' football classroom & friendly games with the Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki football team, the Takatsuki municipal product corner, and an inflatable Fuwa-fuwa Hanitan bounce house. The festival was a great success.

The 3rd Safety Festival 2014
“Safety Festival ~ Connection Creates Safety ~”

On June 15, 2014, we held the "Safety Festival ~ Connection Creates Safety ~" at the Takatsuki Muse Campus. The event, which celebrated its third event this year, marked the number of visitors at about 500 people and became the largest event ever! We interviewed two students who were active as leaders of the administration.

From the left, Shota Watanabe (chairperson, 2nd year student) and Yasuki Nakadori (finance, 2nd year student), members of the Kansai University Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences Festival Executive Committee.
*The annual notation is as of the year 2014.

The 3rd Safety Festival 2014 1 What was the most impressive project?
  1. Watanabe
  2. The most impressive project was the "Disaster Escape Game" that included many elements from the societal safety science studies. This is a game where participants cooperate with each other to solve quizzes related to disaster prevention. The players of the game can deepen their knowledge of disaster prevention, and the game was popular regardless of age and gender. We put an emphasis on preparation, and I am happy if people can have their awareness raised about safety through this project.
In addition, we prepared the "Frog Caravan" to raise people’s disaster prevention wisdom and skills while recycling toys. I was very impressed to see children concentrating so hard while playing the game.

  2. I was the person in charge of equipment and finance. Many things were a first experience for me, such as managing fixtures, adjusting the locations at each event, and handling the amount of money, things I usually don’t handle. I had a lot of responsibility, but I felt it was very rewarding even though I was a little overwhelmed.

Campus Open Day 2014

"Takatsuki Muse Campus Open Day 2014" was held on November 9, 2014.

Campus Open Day 2014

The event celebrated holding its fourth event this year. Although it was a rainy day, many people still came.

In the Arena, a joint concert by Kansai University Junior High and High School Brass Band, and the university cheer leader club supporters brass band was held. Under the direction of the conductor Tetsuya Fukada, "Armenian Dance Part 1" was played by the 90 strong brass band. It was a powerful performance.
At the Muse Hall, we showed the movie "The Swing Girls" using a cinema-like projector. In addition, we, the Festival Executive Committee, opened booths at the restaurant area.

This year, we were able to cooperate with local organizations such as the Takatsuki City Hall and the Sogo, Seibu and Kosobe Self-governing Associations and carry out events at exhibition booths, as well as enjoy a special outdoor lunch. All projects were related to "safety and security", which we are studying at the faculty. For everyone who participates in the future, we will plan projects that will give everyone the opportunity to think about safety measures against emergencies.
We hope many people will come and participate in the festival with all our hearts.

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013
“Safety for you. When shall we learn? Of course, now!”

Students’ Experience <Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences Festival Executive Committee>
The 2nd "Safety Festival" was held at the Takatsuki Muse Campus on June 16, 2013. The theme was “Safety for you. When shall we learn? Of course, now!” The Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences Festival Executive Committee (“Ansai”) organized the festival. We organized various events with the concept that visitors can raise their knowledge and awareness on disaster prevention. We wish that the Takatsuki Muse Campus be used as a place of community exchange and to create connections.

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 1 "Safety Festival”!

[Preparation] I realized how difficult planning and managing events are.

The Ansai is actively participating in various events in different areas and actively communicating with locals through volunteers in the community on a daily basis, such as with cleanup campaigns. This Safety Festival was our first event to plan and operate after receiving the baton from our seniors. We were able to gain a lot of experience.

Planning and managing the event was harder than I imagined, and I felt the difficulty of running it. Particularly troublesome was cooperating with companies outside the university and other groups within the university to construct projects. I could not move along well at first, and I still needed to consult with them until the day before the festival. In such struggles, I found some positive outcomes, such as deeper ties with people outside the university. I learned about society in various ways. Also, even within the university, we could absorb a lot of opinions through exchanges with students of the faculty belonging to different organizations. We felt like everything was a new discovery. Although there were many difficulties, I felt that each member of the Ansai was able to become bigger and brighter.

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 2 "Safety Festival”! The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 3 Takatsuki City Hazard Map created by the members

[On the festival day] Through Exchanges with Locals

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 4 Fire extinguishing experience using hoses

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 5 Simple reproduction of liquefaction phenomenon

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 6 Lifesaving training using AED

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 7 Muse Campus Tour

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 8 Lecture on Landslide Disaster Mechanisms

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 9 Lecture on Structure of Earthquake Resistant Buildings

All the projects were highly satisfactory, and visitors also appreciated the knowledge learned at the AED seminar and commented, "I'm glad that I could do things which I normally don’t have a chance to do," and we received many other warm commendations from the visitors. The visitors enthusiastically participated in many events, and we felt satisfaction from conveying knowledge on disaster prevention. It was a really fulfilling day.

Specifically, the contents of the events were fire extinguishing experience using fire hoses, an earthquake simulation section that explained the mechanism using past sediment-related disaster records, and a lifesaving course using AED. Although we planned the projects to contribute to local people as much as possible, it was also an opportunity for us to learn the importance of taking positive action from the visitors. Further, what was nicest for me to hear was a visitor who said they had no interest in disaster prevention, but afterwards, the same visitor commented, "I want to become more aware of disaster prevention". When I saw the visitor smiling and leaving the festival, a feeling of accomplishment rose up within me which I cannot express in words.

[Next Goal] My dream is to invite Takatsuki City to join and create bigger events

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 10 Disaster Prevention Quiz for Fun Learning

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 11 Projects for kids are also planned

The 2nd Safety Festival 2013 12 Reporting Daily Research

From the event, we gained a lot of precious things, such as being able to interact with the local people, tasting success from the events that we mainly organized, meeting many new people, and expanding our connections. There were several areas where everyone's growth was observed, including those who were not good at talking in public were fearlessly explaining things to visitors.

There were also many points to reflect on, such as preparations running late and panicking until the last minute. Therefore, I have to avoid being overconfident, so I decided to actively participate in the festivals of Takatsuki City and other various events in the area to further deepen my connection with the locals. At the same time, we plan to organize bigger events by ourselves, and we would like to share our knowledge and thoughts with the locals. Finally, I'd like the future to progress in realizing our big dream, that is, "Events with the whole Takatsuki City where anyone can feel free to participate".
