Short-term Exchange Program

Short-term Exchange Program with Taiwan

Kansai University Junior High School concluded a student exchange agreement between the Junior High School Division, and the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University (JHSNU) in 2012. Since then, a one-week exchange program has been conducted each July in Japan, and each March in Taiwan. Students on both sides participate in a homestay, attend lessons with their hosts, go on excursions, conduct office visits, and spend a weekend with their host families. This year, Kansai University Senior High School also started an exchange program with the JHSNU senior high school division.
From March 18th-24th, 2017, four students from KUSHS studied in Taiwan. This school year, KUSHS welcomed seven participants from July 10 to 16. They participated in a homestay at our student’s homes. During the week, the students from Taiwan made a presentation on their country, school, and daily lives in front of all the students. The students from both schools fully enjoyed the precious opportunity to learn more about each other

STUDENT VOICE

HIGUCHI Rikako (S2C)

Last March, we went to Taiwan for about one week. We stayed at Ruys’ house and could experience real daily life in Taiwan. I had a really precious and valuable time. What impressed me most was school life. All of my classmates were so kind. I was moved by their hospitality. I really enjoyed talking with them. It was fun that we could share a laugh even if our first languages are different. Also, I was surprised at how much Japanese culture we could see.
Last July, Taiwanese students came to Japan for about one week and stayed at our house. It was my first time to welcome an exchange student, so I wondered what it would be like. The photo on the top is of when we went to USJ with the Taiwanese students. It was a good oppotunity to improve our friendship. I hope she enjoyed life in Japan. Looking at her reaction, I was sometimes surprised that things I think are common in Japan are different from Taiwanese culture.
Through this program, I learnt a lot of things and I have a wider view than before. I really hope that we will meet again.
