On Saturday, April 26, Kansai University's Japanese Language and Culture Program Preparatory Course (the Bekka) held a Spring excursion, taking 88 students and faculty members on a day trip to Nara.
Nara is a city rich in history and culture. Blessed with pleasant Spring weather, the students enjoyed a refreshing break from their daily studies as they explored this historically significant area.
In the morning, the group visited Kinkoen, where the students experienced making their own Nigirisumi (hand-shaped inksticks) that are one of a kind. The activity sparked great interest among the students, who enjoyed crafting their original inksticks. Afterward, they had a delicious Japanese-style lunch at Shinsenkyo, featuring seasonal dishes.
In the afternoon, the group visited Kasuga Taisha Shrine and took a leisurely walk through Nara Park, surrounded by nature and history. When they saw the Great Buddha of Nara, many students exclaimed, "It's so much bigger than I imagined!"
Students shared comments such as, "It was a different kind of learning and really enjoyable," and "It was a great change of pace from studying every day."
It was a truly fulfilling and memorable day for everyone!
