Tea Ceremony Experience at Kansai University, Senriyama Campus!
2024/12/24
On December 18, 20 students from the Bekka program had the opportunity to learn the tea ceremony as part of a Japanese cultural experience at the Senriyama Campus.
The members of the Kansai University Tea Ceremony Club served as instructors for the day, providing thoughtful guidance on the basics of the tea ceremony, including its foundational etiquette and the refined language behind the tradition. The Bekka students enjoyed Japanese sweets and matcha, while spending a moment experiencing the spirit of Japanese harmony.
For many, it was their first time, and here are some of their thoughts:
"Sitting in seiza, the traditional kneeling position, made my legs go numb, but the Japanese sweets were absolutely delicious!"
"I could feel the spirit of Japanese hospitality through the tea ceremony!"
Although initially nervous, the students' smiling faces and their enjoyment left a lasting impression. The experience offered a glimpse into the profound art of the tea ceremony, creating a delightful and memorable time for all.
Why not experience Japanese traditional culture for yourself?
