Kyudo Experience: Japanese Martial Art of Archery

2024/07/18

On Wednesday, July 10, as part of "Japan Studies," one of the subjects of the Bekka program, students experienced Japanese archery with the cooperation of the Kyudo Club at the Senriyama Campus of Kansai University.

First, the Bekka students received a brief explanation of the basic posture and etiquette of Kyudo, the Japanese martial art of archery.

Next, they observed a Japanese archery practice called "Ikomi", in which members of the Kyudo club shoot arrows at a target.

After that, the Bekka students actually experienced shooting an arrow with a bow. They were nervous at first, but careful coaching and advice by the club members helped them gradually become accustomed and confident enough to draw the bow.

Both Bekka students and members of the Kyudo Club enjoyed each other's company.2024-07-10 15.16.44.jpg2024-07-10 15.28.13.jpg2024-07-10 15.43.02.jpg2024-07-10 16.01.30.jpg
