Ikebana Experience: Japanese Art of Flower Arrangement
2024/08/01
On July 17, as a part of "Japan Studies," one of the subjects of the Bekka program, students learned about the Japanese art of flower arrangement, known as ikebana.
In "Japan Studies", the Bekka students acquire essential and basic knowledge for living in Japan and deepen their knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture and society, through various experiences.
For this class, we invited an ikebana instructor as an extramural lecturer from outside our university. The students had the opportunity to try ikebana themselves.
After learning about the history and basic techniques of ikebana from the instructor, they arranged flowers on their own, further enhancing their understanding of traditional Japanese culture.
