Field trip to Kyoto

2023/12/12

Kansai University Japanese Language and Culture Program Preparatory Course (Bekka) conducts field trips twice a year to deepen student's understanding of Japan and Japanese culture.

On the 9th December, about 80 Bekka students went to Kyoto Prefecture. Blessed with fine weather, the day was a refreshing break from their study-oriented daily lives.

At Nanzenji Temple and Eikando Hall, the students enjoyed walking around the historic buildings while looking at the beautiful autumn leaves.

After a lunch of Kyoto cuisine, the group went to the Mori Pottery Museum to try their hand at painting Kiyomizu-yaki, one of Kyoto's most famous traditional crafts.

Everyone painted their own mugs with their own individual ideas.

After being baked in the kiln, their cups will be shipped to the school. Everybody looks forward to receiving their cups.

It was a fulfilling day for the students, who were able to experience Japanese culture and the beautiful scenery of Kyoto.

In addition, the Bekka students, who are usually in different classes, were able to communicate with each other in Japanese.
