Japanese Culture Experience: Sakura-Mochi

2013/04/11

We made Sakura-Mochi in Japan Studies class on April 10th .
Sakura-Mochi is a Japanese sweet and associated with cherry blossoms (Sakura) and spring season. We wrap glutinous rice with red bean paste in the middle with a sakura leaf.
It was a first time for the students to make Sakura-Mochi, but they worked well together to come up with great Sakura-Mochi. The students were surprised to know that they can actually eat sakura leaves.
There will be a lot of opportunities for students to experience Japanese culture in Japan Studies class.
