KU-MiraCosta Collage COIL Project Presentation

On May 22nd, assistant professor Jiun-Yan Wu's Business for SDGs class connected via ZOOM with MiraCosta College professor Peter Ovwiovwio’s Introduction to Business class students located in San Diego for a live project presentation.

During the 4-week COIL partnership, Kansai University students intensively experience the flavor of collaborative learning. In this scenario-based COIL project, each team mixed with students from both universities needs to address two SDG goals, such as innovation and education. For Kansai University students, they learn deeper knowledge about SDGs by conducting basic market research in Japan. For MiraCosta College students, they gain new perspectives of doing business in Japan; come out with a viable business plan and present the team outcomes jointly. Although the COIL project with their US partners has come to an end, Kansai University students will continue to refine their business plans until the end of the semester.

The win-win COIL project brings benefits to students’ learning experience as well as enhancing their intercultural communication and critical thinking competency which are required in 21st century.
