KU-NAU COIL : Northern Arizona University Professor Jeremy Brees Visits Kansai University IIGE

Committed to furthering the promotion of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) method, last week Kansai University’s Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE) welcomed Northern Arizona University Assistant Professor of Management Jeremy Brees, who traveled to Osaka to meet with his Fall 2019 COIL partner, Professor Akinori Iwamoto.

Having never undertaken COIL in any of his previous courses, Dr. Brees worked closely with IIGE staff during his one-week stay, gaining insight into the various stages of COIL collaboration, developing a preliminary program overview for COIL partnership, and furthering communicative ties between the two universities. His visit included meetings on COIL Course Design, *attending Professor Iwamoto’s Emerging Enterprises class, with whom his students will collaborate this fall*, and exploring the new IIGE Virtual Session Room facilities to experience first-hand the role technology plays in the COIL classroom.

We wish the two professors a fruitful and engaging COIL collaboration, and hope it will lead to many more in the future.

※Kansai University invites JPN-COIL Consortium member university professors interested in pursuing COIL in their courses to visit IIGE, attend our training seminars/webinars, and enroll in ImmerseU (pilot testing to begin July 2019) to connect with potential COIL partners all over the world.
