KU-UIUC COIL Plus Program : Icebreaking Virtual Session

Professor Toshihiro Uemura, Faculty of Engineering Science, Kansai University (KU) led a virtual session with a KU graduate student currently studying at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the U.S. who shared his experience during the past month with four KU undergraduate students who are interested in studying abroad. The students were introduced to one another virtually and were given the chance to ask questions about life on a university campus in the U.S., cultural differences, and developing English language proficiency.

Among the three tracks of the COIL Plus Program, the KU-UIUC COIL Plus Program is categorized as Track② Expertise-Focused, which encourages task-based learning in an international virtual team in the students’ area of specialization.

COIL sessions between KU and UIUC are planned over the course of the next few months, which will  involve a larger group of students from both universities that will lead to more active exchange in the future.
