August 5th marked the first day of official Peace Boat activities for our Joint Honors Program students. They were introduced to the Peace Boat passengers, and took park in their first of several lectures by program navigator Professor Craig N. Shealy (Director, i-Bavi; Professor, James Madison University), titled "No One Left Behind.

Students participated in the first of the onboard seminars, including topics on beliefs and values, atomic bombings in Japan, and on campaigns to foster nuclear disarmament. In addition, students undertook daily work (that continued throughout the voyage) that included updating reflective journals and attending small group briefing sessions.
