On Tuesday March 12, an MOU and student exchange agreement were signed with the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
The Université Libre de Bruxelles has two schools, ULB (French) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) (Dutch), and the agreement has been signed with ULB.
In the morning, the two universities exchanged views with Chancellor Bernard De Cannière, Vice-Rector Anne Weyembergh and other professors on future exchange programs between the two universities, followed by a signing ceremony of the agreement by Chancellor Bernard De Cannière and President Yutaka Maeda.
The meeting was filled with discussions student exchange programs, the establishment of internship opportunities in Japan, and the possibility of exchanges with about 3,000 young doctoral researchers at ULB.
In the afternoon, Associate Professor Hikaru Yoshizawa, from the Faculty of Law of Kansai University, who graduated from the Université Libre de Bruxelles had a workshop, EU/European Policies and Their Implications for Inter-regional Relations which was co-organized with the ULB Institute for European Studies.
The workshop discussed the structural challenges of the partnership between the EU and Brazil and the influence of EU regulations on digital platforms.
This is the first agreement Kansai University has signed with a university in the French-speaking part of Belgium and will provide an opportunity to learn a lot about diverse cultures and values in the cosmopolitan city of Brussels. We will work to actively expand exchange programs in both education and research.
