“Discovering Europe; An Informative Seminar (European countries)"

On December 8th, “Discovering Europe; An Informative Seminar(Europe ver.)” was held with in-person and online.

This time, Dr. Euan McKay, Project Associate Professor, Strategic Planning Office, Kobe University, gave a talk on the theme that “The history and current situation of LGBTQ+ people in European countries.”

He spoke about LGBTQ+ from various perspectives, such as the research at Japanese universities, differences in laws and systems between European countries and Japan, and differences in consciousness between generations. We also learned about the history and current situation in the Netherlands and Italy, and how the situation surrounding LGBTQ+ has changed.

His comment that "the issue of sexual minority rights is an issue of human rights" was impressive and made each one of us think again about LGBTQ+ issues.
