NEWS EVENT2025/04/14

On April 12 and 13, the Kansai University European Center was able to participate in Japan Fes, a festival held at Vilvoorde (Belgium) which celebrated diverse aspects of Japanese culture. Thanks to the Embassy of Japan in Belgium, the European Center was represented at the festival by joining the Embassy booth.

Japan Fes showcased a variety of aspects of Japanese culture to its audience, including gastronomy, music, art, popular culture, and so on. Visitors could try out Japanese dishes such as ramen, sushi, or okonomiyaki, see demonstrations of Japanese martial arts, or try out Japanese arcade games. On the stage of the ‘traditional Japan-section’, a taiko performance was held, and the process of mochi making was demonstrated. Alongside this diverse portrayal of Japanese culture, the Embassy of Japan in Belgium was also present, which kindly allowed the European Center to participate in its booth.

Therefore, the Center was able to introduce Kansai University to the visitors of the festival. More specifically, the exchange programs of Kansai University, such as various summer and winter schools, were highlighted, and the new prospectus for 2025 was distributed. As many visitors were interested in studying in Japan, providing more information on the four different exchange programs of Kansai University for university students greatly contributed to further educating the public on such opportunities. Furthermore, the Center was able to answer questions with regards to Kansai University, thus concluding a productive participation to the two-day festival.

The European Center is very grateful for having had the opportunity to reach out to a broader audience and to meet many visitors interested in Kansai University. It would furthermore like to express its gratitude to the Embassy of Japan for its kind invitation to the Embassy booth and support in arranging its participation.
