Notice on the Thorough Implementation of Animal and Plant Quarantine during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival

In order to prevent the spread of plant pests and livestock infectious diseases, Japan strictly regulates the bringing of fruits, vegetables, meat, and meat products from overseas.
Even for items that are not explicitly prohibited, bringing in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, and similar products requires a phytosanitary certificate.
The importation of meat and meat products is strictly prohibited.

These restrictions apply without exception, even to in-flight meals, souvenirs, or small quantities.
Please note that illegal importation may result in penalties, including imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 3 million yen (up to 50 million yen for corporations).
