午前中は語学研修を行いましたが、各クラスの授業の様子を見ていると徐々に英語の授業に慣れてきた様子を感じます。

午後からは日系プレイスを訪問し、カナダへ移住した日本人や日系移民2世や3世の歴史を学習しました。今年92歳になられる日系移民2世の方に来ていただいて、実際に第2次世界大戦中に受けた差別や強制収容の経験を講演していただきました。

この講演の内容は、学校の歴史の授業では学べないことを学習する貴重な経験になったと思います。

In the morning the students had English classes. The students are getting used to their English classes little by little.

In the afternoon, we visited the Nikkei Place and learned about the history of Japanese immigrants and second and third generation Japanese in Canada. Our guest speaker was a 92-year-old second generation Japanese immigrant who talked about his actual experience of discrimination and life in the internment camps during World War II.

It was a valuable experience for students to learn about history that is not taught in history classes at school.
