Research Center for Societal Safety Sciences

 The Graduate School of Societal Safety Sciences Masters Course was established on April 1, 2010. The fundamental purpose of the Graduate School is to promote the development of theories and policy research, as well as the nurturing of people who can make a practical contribution in the creation of a safe and secure society. To help fulfill this goal, the Research Center for Societal Safety Sciences was founded on August 1, 2012.

 The Research Center for Societal Safety Sciences is an institute affiliated with the Graduate School. Dr,. Yoshiaki Kawata, specially appointed professor, serves as the first and current Director of the Center. The Center is dedicated to establishment of “Societal Safety Science,” its application to society, and the promotion of policy-making considering societal safety. With these goals in mind, the Center has engaged in a variety of activities such as working with external research institutes for planning and promoting joint research, organizing symposiums and seminars, and publishing research findings to make them accessible to the world.
