A Japanese Cultural Experience for Bekka Students at Kansai University!

2024/11/26

On November 20, a Japanese cultural experience was held at Kansai University's Senriyama Campus! Bekka students had the opportunity to try Japanese archery (Kyudo) with the support of the Kansai University's Kyudo Club.

The class, held in the club's dojo, began with an introduction by the Kyudo Club members, covering the history and origins of Kyudo as well as the achievements of Kansai University's Kyudo Club. Participants learned about the legacy of Kyudo as a traditional Japanese cultural practice, deepening their appreciation of Japan's rich heritage.

Time to try Kyudo!

All 20 students picked up a bow and experienced shooting arrows, firsthand. While initially a bit nervous about trying Kyudo for the first time, they gradually relaxed, thanks to the careful guidance of the Kyudo Club members. By the end, everyone was fully focused on hitting their targets.

Here are some of the following comments shared by the students, who enjoyed their time engaging with Japanese culture, all smiles.

"I'm so glad I got to try Kyudo, a uniquely Japanese tradition, for the first time!"

"It was harder than I thought, but the sense of accomplishment when I hit the target was amazing!"

This cultural experience, which gave participants the chance to step out of their usual classroom setting and try something new, provided a wonderful opportunity for both a refreshing change of pace and valuable learning opportunities.IMG_6114.jpgIMG_6103.jpgIMG_6056.jpg5.jpg4.jpg
