Second Safety Science Symposium

The Faculty of Safety Science will hold a symposium sponsored by Takatsuki City. This symposium is open to the public.

One year after the Tohoku Earthquake, there is an increased risk of major earthquakes such as Tokai, Tonankai and Nankai occurring, which can cause devastating damage to Western Japan. In this symposium, Osaka City, the largest city in the region, and the Union of Kansai Governments will discuss a joint strategy in preparation for anticipated major earthquakes in Western Japan, as well as possible massive quakes due to movement along the Uemachi or Arima-Takatsuki faults. Considering a collaborative agenda between prefectures and cities, we will focus on safety measures in metropolitan areas.
